Transportation
Rotterdam is 24 minutes on the Intercity Direct train from Schiphol airport (about 15 euros one way) or 50 minutes on the regular Intercity service (12 euros). If you’re flying to Rotterdam airport, you can take the 33 bus to Central Station (every 15 minutes, takes about 20 minutes).
Getting around in Rotterdam is very easy: the city is fairly small (everything is within a 5km radius) and blessed with excellent tram, bus, and subway services.
Rotterdam’s public transport can be accessed with the purchase of an OV card (€ 7.50 for the card + top up) which will make each individual trip to cost between € 0.98 and € 2.00 (depending on the length of the trip) or individual tickets (€ 3.00 for 1h of travel). OV card can be purchased in Central Station and top up in several places in the city.
Bike rental
Biking is the best option: the city is well structured with bike lanes and parking. At Rotterdam Central Station you can easily rent a bike from about €6.50-10 a day (including theft insurance). It is also possible to rent a bicycle for a week (if enough bikes are available). A valid proof of identity is required. You will need to pay a security deposit (which varies between €50 and €145).
